Lupus America® Communities Household Goods Donation Program
Lupus America® Communities Household Goods Donation Program raises funds to support the fight against lupus. You can donate your gently used clothes, shoes and household items to support vital research and education programs for individuals with lupus and their families in communities like yours.
The Lupus America® Communities program is currently only available if you live in New Jersey and New York. As of June 28, 2025, the partnership between the Lupus Foundation of America and GreenDrop for donation pick-up services in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia has come to a close. We are currently working with our Northeast home goods partner to resume services in this area in the near future - please check back periodically for an update on our household goods pick-up and donation services in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
How Your Donation Helps
All donations benefit Lupus America® Communities, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity established to support the mission of the Lupus Foundation of America. Donated items are sold by Lupus America® Communities, generating revenue which is used to help people impacted by lupus. All donations are tax-deductible. Learn more about Lupus America® Communities.

The partnership between LFA and GreenDrop for donation pickup services in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia has come to a close. We are currently working with our Northeast home goods partner to resume services in this area in the near future.
Pick-Up Information
Please place your donations out by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled day, rain or shine. Identify your donation clearly by marking "LF" on all bags and boxes to be picked up. Drivers will pick up items throughout the day.
If the time specified is inconvenient, please call during the hours below to arrange another pick-up date. Pickups can also be scheduled at the websites above for your area.
- New York/New Jersey: 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, or on Saturday between 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Your donation is very important to us; however, once donations are put out for pickup, LAC is not responsible for loss or damage to the donation. In addition, please keep in mind that donations made in error cannot be returned.
Tax Deductions
The driver will leave a donation receipt at the time of pick-up. It is your responsibility to comply with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules governing the valuation and deductibility of the donated items. If you did not receive a receipt, contact the number above in your area, or go to the website for your pickup area above to download a printable receipt.
You can determine the value of your donated items by reviewing information published on the IRS website, Determining the Value of Donated Property, Publication 561. For all non-cash gifts of $500 or more, you must file IRS Form 8283. You should consult your tax advisor if you have any questions.
